We often comment on the difference between us and elders in the name of the generation gap. Is there really a generation gap? What are the different generations? How can be this solved? Let us know the answer in this episode.

A few years ago, we planned to purchase a car. We had been waiting for a long time for this time where we would be roaming around in our own car. One fine evening we family members sat down to decide what car needs we to purchase. There were different opinions from different members. My grandfather said he has no idea about these cars, so he insisted us to decide. My father was a bit conscious about every aspect before purchasing it. He insisted that buying a value-for-money variant of a sedan car would be a great option. My mother also supported the same.
I had some other option in my mind. I too was somewhat aware of all the aspects, I was also aware of the trend then. Keeping the trend in mind I suggested a compact SUV. On the other hand, there was a small brother who just entered teens who were just insisting to buy an automatic Lamborghini. We can clearly see a difference in opinions, and we can also clearly mark the difference in generations that is actually changing the perceptions and opinions.
There can many instances that depict the difference in opinions due to the age factor. There can be many cases where we can face problems due to the same. The most common concern in this regard is that can we sort out these differences if any? Let us check all the probable answers in the coming lines.
Before we can look into probable solutions and tips, we should have a brief knowledge of different generations. In the current scenario in technical terms, the complete present population as of now is divided into 5 different generations. Let us look into the same in the following lines.

Five different generations in the current Population:
1. Silent generation (Born between 1920-1945)
This is the eldest generation that can be presently found. These people have definitely witnessed the industrial revolution, but these are classified as silent as there was no great social and financial change during this time. My Grandfather belonged to this generation.

2. The Baby Boomers (Born Between 1946-1964)
This generation is the first generation that witnessed large corporate companies and began to work for them with loyalty. They believe in working for one company all their life in expecting that the company will take care of them all their life. They are known as baby boomers because there was a sudden increase in the population during this period after the return of WWII soldiers.

3. Generation X (Born between 1965-1980)
This is the first generation that witnessed s new set of technologies in all fields. These people witnessed a modern world for the first time by better communications systems and tech. These people started believing in value investing and Simultaneously taking care of what their parents gave them. My parents belonged to this generation basically.

4. Millennials / Generation Y (Born between 1981- 1996)
This is the present youth of the country. This generation witnessed the iconic change incorporate. They witnessed a large change in the corporate system by filtering out a lot of employees. This is the generation that has witnessed a great change between the higher and the lower financial class people. This is the generation that believed in smart work for earning and other purposed too. I basically belong to this generation.

5. Generation Z (Born in 1997 and later)
This is the generation of kids in the present population. This is generation is the most futuristic part of the population that dreams big and are many folds smarter than the previous generation. They are generally very aspiring in all aspects. My little brother falls under this generation.
From the above brief description of different generations, we can easily conclude the reason behind the change in the ideas and decision by each of different generations. The scenario that they have witnessed leads them to rule out their mindset and think accordingly.

Probable solution for differences between generations:
There can be many problems that may arise between two different generations. Solving these differences is one of the most common and important concerns of the present population. In my clean opinion, there no perfect solution for these differences (at least as of now). But there can be some tips when followed that can lead to better results without a doubt. Here are some such tips:
1. Encouraging Multi-generational team working
Working together makes people accept differences between each other. This gradually increases the chances of ensuring diversity in work across various teams and committees. In places especially corporate, this is the most common way of sorting out the differences between people of different generations.
2. Establishing Clear cultural values
This solution is clearly seen in combined families across our country. An experienced grandfather of the family understands all the situations and directs the people when a problem arises. This is nothing but establishing clear cultural values. The elder one inculcates the cultural values into the family to direct them in the right direction. This is the reason some family is not stable because the elder one of that family is absent or not strong to guide them.
3. Embedding technology that drives collaboration
Some differences may arise due to differences in the schedule between people of different generations. In many of these cases, technology can be implemented to plaster these differences. I have witnessed such an example in life. my uncle lived with his father (my grandfather). My aunt was a working lady, and this was the reason she couldn’t cook food at right time for the elders in the house. So they planned to purchase an electric cooker that could keep food fresh and warm for the elders to consume at any time.
4. Communicating at all levels
Not only in case of generation gap is lack of communication the problem for many problems that rise today. There can be different methods and ways of communication between them. Communicating in the right way at the right time can get rid of many problems in this context too.

The above lines have stated some tips that may help us in dealing with generation gaps and the difference. I believe that till now there is not a complete solution to plaster this problem (to the best of my perception). But, in all the cases if we can adjust ourselves to make the situation better. I would share solutions if find any in upcoming episodes.
