Life lessons (Episode 3- Frame of Mind )

Hello friends and welcome to my blog. In this episode we will be comprehend a common yet unnoticed fact. I will make it interesting for you by taking an recent example of such happening. The lesson we are going to learn is mentality of some people, which is very hurting, always. Here we term it as the typical negative Frame of Mind of these people
Covid-19, popularly known as Corona in our localities have created havoc in the world. The world even after several months of this pandemic, is suffering from many Covid-positive cases every day. As expected,  people have created their own perception towards the virus and the people affected with it.
Here starts the story. Mr.Gupta was one of our neighbors. He is a nice person, has no issues with any one in our locality.  His younger son is almost of the age of my sister. He always comes to my home and we three play games like Carroms and Ludo.
Everything was going on fine. One day, after couple of months from the advent of the pandemic, Mr.Gupta's brother expired (Due to covid-19). He was from a town almost 200kms away from us. Mr. Gupta and his family despite of lockdown, dared to visit his funeral. They planned a one day trip to the town of deceased for attending the funeral. As planned, they have started early in the morning in a private cab and returned the night the same day.
Now starts the interesting part of the story. The news of this journey spread across the town (I mean their relatives, friends and neighbors) Since those were the initial days of pandemic, everyone saw  Mr.Gupta's Decision as a wrong one. They thought that just by their visit to the funeral, any one of their family could be reason of the virus spread in our locality. Actually, they were true to some extent. Mr.gupta and family were also aware of the pandemic, thus they stayed far away from the people in the funeral taking care of all the Covid precautions. But neighbors were not ready to accept them. One of the main persons who was ahead for this was Mr.Rajan. This was not good at all. We even see in a popular TV commercials which clearly shows that the Covid patients are advised to stay alone, but not be left alone. But in this case even Mr.Gupta or any one of his family member is not yet detected with covid positive till then.
Their entire family was forced to stay at home, not even allowed to come out for basic needs. Seeing this I called them twice and provided them with essentials during their span of quarantine. After staying for 14 days in quarantine, none of them were tested positive. This is one part of the story.
After 3 months, when the lockdown was gradually loosening, and the cases of Corona were increasing rapidly, new twist in the scenario came into play. Mr.Rajan was not feeling well for few days, but he didn't reveal that in fear of society. But, since we were neighbors, it was open to us. In this scenario, came the occasion of gramadevta jatra (Celebrations). As a custom we arrange for puja in our street. We expected Mr.Rajan will not attend the occasion because his health was not good and there is every chance of him being covid positive. But in contrast to our expectation, he attended. We were also aware of the covid precautions, thus we all maintained social distancing.  Noticing our behavior towards him, he stated, "Corona only gets affected if you stay with effected person for long time, nothing will happen in short term gatherings and meetings". After few days, the situation turned worse and he has to get admitted in a hospital in Visakhapatnam. As usual people gossiped about him being tested positive for Corona. Even though he claimed that he was not covid positive, it was actually true, which was revealed later.
I called Mr.Rajan to enquire about his health. As a part of conversation he urged to not reveal about  he being Covid-positive to others. But then he didnt know that, people were already aware of this. Later when he came to know about this, he opened up.
Now its time for interpretation(s). Mr.Gupta was not completely wrong with his decision, since it was his duty as a brother to take part in the funeral. And it is also true and agreeable to the point that they need to stay in quarantine for prescribed days. The interesting part of the scenario is the characterization of Mr.Rajan. He was the one of those who forced Mr.Gupta and family for isolation and not allowing/helping them with their basic needs. But when he was tested positive for Covid, he just tried to fade out the news. He tried to make it a normal phenomenon for any person, as if it was a common cold.
Here I want to put into focus the Frame Of Mind of people like Mr, Rajan. It is not only about the case of Corona or Mr.Rajan, but also with many other people in many other contexts. This is general attitude of some people to treat some scenario of others as bad and complicated, and same scenario appearing in their life changes their opinion a lot. There is hell and heaven difference in this. Another best example would be: if some one sees inter-caste marriages in other families, they criticize and claim to be against it, but in case the same inter-caste marriage happens in their own house or family, they turn around on their opinion immediately. They suddenly start supporting this concept. I'm not commenting on inter-caste marriages, but on the Frame of mind of these people in our society,
So friends, this is the aspect where we need to be aware from our surrounding environment. If you ask a random person (known) about something, he/she may not suggest you about that, but when the same scenario appears for them, they go for it. It is turning to a very common phenomenon. Therefore, it is our sole responsibility to decide our decisions in life despite of listening to various suggestions from these type f people.
