Life Lessons (Episode 2- Diplomacy)

Hi friends today I am ready with  new episode before you. Seeing the topic of this episode you may be wondering what is it to do with the life lessons. Well this episode will answer that. Before starting, let us know what is the meaning of Diplomacy.  Different persons give different meanings for the same word and the Google also says "it is an art of dealing with people in a sensitive and tactful way". This obviously takes us to the idea of Politics.  And I also mean to say the same, that is today we are going to have an brief idea about how to deal with people who apply politics in our day to day life.

Before getting into an interpretation, I want to narrate some real life incident that happened with my friend (His name is Charan) in final year of his graduation. That was late October, when the cold breeze was about to start all over, was about to come an auspicious occasion, Dussehra. It was just 2-3 days away, and they have to make  the necessary arrangements for the puja on the occasion at their class. One of the important task of all such arrangements is the procurement of puja essentials from the market. Since Charan  have been into college, he was the one who takes the responsibility as if it was a custom.  But this time the responsibility was assigned to an other classmate, Ram by the class leader.

Here the main story begins. Ram accepted the responsibility normally, but didn't initiate the process. Days passed on and he didn't start it. Everyone percepted that he will fail in accomplishing it, and Charan was also observing Ram's attitude from the day he was assigned with the task. Ram in contrast procured some items from market on the day before Dussehra. On that evening, Charan enquired with class leader whether Ram was done with his responsibility, and came to know that Ram has left out some particulars in the list. To avoid situation to worsen, Charan assured the class leader to procure the remaining particulars in case Ram fails in the last minute. This conversation was overheard by Ram from other side of the wall. After some time, class leader assembled all the students to know the report of the progress. He turned to Ram and asked about his responsibility, Ram immediately replied, "Charan will do the rest, right?" and handed over the particulars list to Charan. Charan was surprised with the Ram's statement. He took the list and immediately finished the responsibility.

I know that the scenario I narrated has not brought us to any perfect conclusions. To interpret this, we need to know the other side of this story.

Ram was not interested in indulging himself to take any responsibility. But class leader has assigned an important assignment to him. He wanted to skip this responsibility at any cost, thus he passed days waiting for such opportunity. On the day before Dussehra he had no other option but to accomplish the task, thus procured some particulars. But when he over heard the conversation between class leader and Charan, he instantly created a chance to clean his hands by handing the task over to him.

Now from this narration let us have important observations and their results:

1. The class leader changed the custom and handed over the responsibility to Ram instead of Charan. He may have planned to teach Ram with some responsibilities, this is his way of Diplomacy to prove himself as a leader. Or he may have some differences with Ram.

2. Ram was not work minded, at least in this scenario. No matter what is the reason, he would have accomplished the task, but he was not ready for it. So he waited for a chance to avoid it, this is his Diplomacy.

3. Charan in this scenario is actually innocent or over caring towards his environment. He would have left the work to Ram without caring about it. But he took stress to observe Ram's attitude and finally fell in his trap, and accomplished the task in last minute as if it was his own fault. Here Charan is purely the direct victim of Ram's diplomacy, and a Indirect victim of Class leader's diplomacy.

Now, I'm confident that we all interpreted well about the scenario. Let us learn something  from the conclusion.

Diplomacy is very common and unavoidable in any stage of your life. we need to deal or learn to face and deal with these. We can avoid or control direct diplomacy, and may or may not control indirect diplomacy.

IMPORTANT NOTE: It is crucial to note that Diplomacy should not always be taken to be on the negative side. There are instances where diplomacy actually creates solution or makes the situation better. I will elucidate that in one of upcoming episodes.
